I expect fear.
I expect suspicion.

I expect your anger.
I expect your tests.

I expect to be questioned about my motives.
I expect to be a disappointment.

I expect that you will see nothing worthwhile in my friendship.
I expect that you will cut off my hands when I reach out to you.

I expect you to abandon me,
but I keep trying anyway.

Because I do not fear your touch;
I only fear being alone.
